Author Information

Phil Jose is a 27-year veteran of the Seattle (WA) Fire Department where he is the deputy chief of training. Chief Jose teaches nationally on air management, tactics, decision making, and instructional craftsmanship. He is a corecipient of the 2008 FDIC Tom Brennan Training Achievement Award.

Chief Jose is the coauthor of the book Air Management for the Fire Service (2008), and author of the “Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus” chapter of Fire Engineering’s Handbook for Firefighter I and II (2008), and the DVDs “Bread and Butter” Operations: SCBA (2012) and Air Management for the Fire Service: All Day Seminar (2014), all from Fire Engineering Books & Videos.
