Emergencies are scary for kids, but staying calm and calling 911 is the right way to get help right away.

These NFPA brochures and companion online music video give children the training they need to convey important facts emergency responders need to know for fast, effective action.

Activity-filled brochures provide the basics about when, how, and why to call 9-1-1.

A story-based activity helps kids use problem-solving skills in two compelling scenarios involving fire and injury emergencies, where calling 9-1-1 could result in saving lives. A message for grown-ups provides additional facts and ways to reinforce key behaviors.

Help can be there in a hurry when kids remember:

  • Firefighters will help if there is a fire or medical emergency and when you dial 9-1-1 the fire department will answer the phone.
  • Tell them about your emergency, your name, your address, and the telephone number from where you’re calling.
  • Stay on the phone with 9-1-1 until you’re told to hang up.

A Web address lets kids go online to watch the fun 9-1-1 music video and learn the original song!

The catchy tune and upbeat dancing in NFPA’s 9-1-1 music video reminds kids they can save the day by calling 9-1-1. Each brochure has the song lyrics so kids can sing along. It’s an emergency safety message they can share with the whole family. NFPA’s new brochures meet Common Core standards for education.
