Getting hired in the fire service is not an easy process. Many people have that desire to become a firefighter, but for whatever reason cannot put the pieces together to make it a reality.

Over the 20 plus years Steve Prziborowski has been in the fire service, he has had the opportunity to be on both sides of the hiring process – as a candidate, and as a rater and proctor.

This book will assist future firefighters specifically prepare for a career in the fire service. This book is not the one-size-fits-all book to becoming a firefighter. There is just not enough room to accomplish that.

Instead, this book is meant to be your starting point to get you headed in the right direction as you begin the process of becoming a firefighter.

Nobody said it was going to be easy becoming a firefighter…if it was, everyone would be doing it!

Steve Prziborowski has over 20 years of fire service experience, currently serving as a Deputy Chief for a fire department in the Silicon Valley area of Northern California. Steve is also an instructor for the Chabot College (Hayward, CA) Fire Technology Program, where he has been instructing fire technology and EMS classes since 1993.

Steve is a state-certified Chief Officer and Master Instructor, has earned a master’s degree in emergency services administration, is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy, and has received Chief Fire Officer Designation through the Commission on Professional Credentialing.
